Maestri Vocale strives to advance choral arts in West Virginia by providing quality performances as well as collaborative opportunities for its members and other music professionals and entities in the state.
Who We Are
Maestri Vocale is a professional choir made up of singers who live in, or have ties to West Virginia. The Majority of the ensemble's members are degreed musicians, many of which conduct their own ensembles. The singers share a passion for making quality music in a wide range of genres and styles. Maestri Vocale is the name of our full (SATB) ensemble. However, the group is comprised of two smaller ensembles, Maestri Vocale Treble (our soprano/alto choir), and Maestri Vocale Bass (our tenor/bass choir). Singer assignments are assigned by voice and not gender or gender expression. The groups perform both together and separately from one another. The original group was the bass ensemble which was established in the summer of 2019 as the brainchild of founding members Dr. Sam Spears, Jeremiah Smallridge, Joshua Stubbs, and Seth Stemple. Maestri Vocale Treble was formed in 2021 by Sarah Nale and Natalie Shaffer. Maestri Vocale is unique as it shares leadership. Furthermore, members take turns directing one another and sometimes act as accompanists on various instruments. The ensemble was created not only to promote and share excellent music in West Virginia but also as a means for collaborative growth for members as singers, conductors, and makers of music. Maestri Vocale performs two to three concerts a year. Maestri Vocale Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
